Doctor Helen Evans-Howells who is recently married. Formerly Doctor Helen Howells, is a leading GP with a specialist interest in allergy. Doctor Helen qualified in medicine from Southampton University with Honours in 2005. Since then she has rotated through a variety of different medical and surgical specialties before choosing to work in General Practice.
Doctor Helen developed an interest in allergies when her eldest son Ethan was born and developed milk and nut allergies. In order to ensure he received the best care she undertook a Masters degree in Allergy Medicine at Southampton University and qualified with Distinction. All of Doctor Helen’s children have various allergies and atopic conditions and so she understands first hand, how hard allergies can be for a family.
Doctor Helen worked at the University Hospital of Southampton as a GP with an extended role in Allergy for over four years. She lectures extensively on the subject both nationally and internationally and has been a honorary lecturer for the Allergy Masters Degree at Southampton University. Doctor Helen also supports and lectures for the Charities, Allergy UK and Anaphylaxis campaign.
Doctor Helen undertook the role of Chair of the Primary Care Group of the British Society of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (BSACI) from 2017 to 2020 with the primary aim of improving allergy care for patients like her son. He has been her inspiration for her allergy career as she wants to ensure every patient receives good quality allergy care.
Based at Dorset Private GP, Poole Road, Westbourne clinic she offers expert diagnosis and management of the full range of allergic disorders affecting adults and children, including food allergy, hay fever, eczema, asthma, delayed gastrointestinal food allergies and insect stings.
